Privacy Notice

Publisher: A New Software, LLC Software: TradeCraft

This notice explains what TradeCraft stores, what leaves your computer, and what we do with the small amount of information you give us to register for and keep a license.

1. The short version

Your trades and your market data never leave your computer. We do not collect them, we do not receive them, and TradeCraft does not upload them anywhere.

The personal information we hold is what you give us to register for a license, what the license itself needs, and what you send us when you contact us: contact details such as your name and email address, license and installation identifiers, technical details about your installation, the status of your license, and your correspondence with us. Payment details go to the provider that takes the payment, not to us.

2. What TradeCraft stores on your computer

TradeCraft stores the following in an application-data folder under your own user profile:

  • Trades and positions you create, including notes, adjustments and journal entries.
  • Market data you import, from files you supply.
  • Settings and preferences, including the accounts and expense rates you configure.
  • Diagnostic and crash logs, kept on your machine to help you diagnose problems.
  • Broker credentials, encrypted, and only the tokens your broker issues.
  • Your license activation, encrypted.
  • Similar application data that a feature needs, kept in the same place.

This data is yours. It stays on your machine. Uninstalling TradeCraft does not delete it — remove the folder yourself if you want it gone.

TradeCraft never asks for and never stores your broker website password. It holds only the access tokens your broker issues after you authenticate directly with the broker.

3. What leaves your computer

Nothing about your trades, your positions or your imported market data leaves your computer unless you send it yourself. TradeCraft contacts external services only for these purposes:

  • Your broker’s data interface, using credentials you supply and authorize, to retrieve quotes and option chains. This is a direct connection between your computer and your broker. It is read-only: TradeCraft cannot place, modify or cancel an order. We are not a party to it and we receive nothing from it.
  • Public reference data, such as published interest rates used in option pricing, from public sources. These requests contain no information about you, your trades or your positions.
  • Our own services, such as licensing, updates and support. Licensing checks carry what identifies your license and this installation — such as license and installation identifiers, the computer’s name as shown in Settings, the operating system and the app version — and nothing about your trades, your positions or your market data. Our service passes on to the licensing provider described in Section 5 what it needs to issue and manage the license, and nothing about your trades or data.

TradeCraft does not contain advertising identifiers and does not track your usage. Any diagnostic report reaches us only if you choose to send it.

4. Your registration, license and computer identifier

To use TradeCraft you register for a license with us through our website. Activating the license on your computer associates it with that computer. You may also write to us through our website before you buy.

What we collect, and why:

  • Your name — to identify whose license it is, and to support you. You give it to us when you register.
  • Your email address — to deliver your license, to tell you about its expiry and renewal, and to contact you about it. You give it to us when you register.
  • License and installation identifiers, including a computer identifier — to issue a license that runs on your computer and not on someone else’s. The computer identifier is generated on your computer when you activate.
  • Technical details about your installation, such as the computer’s name, the operating system and the app version — to keep your license working and to support you.
  • Your license status and activation records — which license was activated on which computer, when, and whether it is current. This is what the license checks described in Section 3 read and update.
  • What you send us — through the forms on our website (a request for access, a question, or a support request) or by email, so that we can answer it. Everything you enter in a form is sent to us and kept as described below; the form marks what it needs, which may include your name, your email address, your license key, the details TradeCraft’s Copy Support Info gathers (app version, operating system, computer name, license status and installation identifier) and your description of the problem.
  • Any other information you choose to give us, and technical information generated when the software or the website uses our services, such as the time and result of a request.
  • Payment details, where a license is paid for, go to us or to the payment provider we engage (Section 5) and, with a provider, are held under its own privacy terms. We receive purchase records such as confirmation that a payment was made, its amount and date, and the last part of the card number; we do not store the full card number.

About the computer identifier. It is not readable as information about you. It is not your name, your address, your hardware serial numbers, or anything that can be looked up or reversed into those. It is meaningful only to us, and only for matching a license to a computer.

Your license covers the number of computers stated when it is issued.

5. How we use, share and keep this information

We use it to issue your license, to deliver it to you, to support you, and to keep a record of which licenses we have issued.

Service providers act on our behalf. We use service providers to run our website and services — for example for licensing and payment, hosting, email delivery and support — and we may add or change them. They process your information only on our instructions and only for the purposes in this notice. For example:

  • A licensing and payment provider may sell the license to you on our behalf as the merchant of record: it takes your order, name, email address and payment, issues your invoice, handles sales tax, and holds the record of your license and the computers it is activated on. A purchase made with such a provider is under its own terms and privacy policy, and invoice questions are handled through it.
  • A hosting provider runs our website and services and stores the records described above, including messages sent through our website forms.
  • An email delivery provider sends our license, support and acknowledgment emails.

We do not sell it. Apart from our service providers, we do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or any other third party. We may tell you about our own products and updates; you can opt out of that at any time. We may disclose it only where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.

We keep it for as long as your license is active, and afterwards only for as long as we need it to reissue or support a license, to handle renewals, to resolve payment questions, and to keep our own business and tax records. Support correspondence is kept for as long as the question it concerns is open and for a reasonable period afterwards so that we can recognize a repeat problem. When we no longer need it for those purposes, we delete it.

6. Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to support@anewsoftware.com or through our website. Deleting your details ends our ability to support or reissue your license.

You can remove everything TradeCraft stored on your computer by uninstalling it and deleting its application-data folder.

You can stop TradeCraft contacting your broker by removing its credentials in Settings.

7. Why we are allowed to hold it

We hold your contact details, license and installation identifiers, technical details about your installation, license records and correspondence because we need them to give you the license you asked for, to keep it valid, and to support it — that is, to perform our agreement with you. We do not hold them for any other purpose, and we do not process them for advertising, profiling or automated decision-making.

8. Where we offer TradeCraft

We market and sell TradeCraft to customers in the United States. We do not direct our marketing at, and do not knowingly target, residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Canada or any other jurisdiction whose data protection law may apply on a different basis than U.S. law.

If you access or use TradeCraft from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative, and you are responsible for compliance with any laws that apply to you where you are. We make no representation that TradeCraft, this notice, or our other legal documents satisfy the law of any country other than the United States.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. TradeCraft is not intended for use by minors.

9. Changes to this notice

If we change this notice, TradeCraft will show you the changed notice and ask you to read it again before continuing. The notice that applies is the one distributed with the version of TradeCraft you are running.
